With recent performances in the Concertgebouw and BBC proms, Myrsini Margariti is considered one of the leading baroque sopranos in Europe. She was born in Greece and studied voice and violin at the National Conservatory in Athens. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Musicology from the University of Athens. She completed two Master’s Degrees in “Lied and Oratorio” and «Opera and Musical Theater» with the highest honors, at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. During her studies she was granted with the “Alexander Onassis Foundation” and the “Juergen Ponto Stiftung” Scholarship.


While still a student, she performed the roles of Gretel (Hänsel & Gretel, Salzburg), Muzio (World premiere of the newly discovered baroque Opera of Cesarini, Scarlatti and Caldara: Giunio Bruto that toured Austria and Germany), Zerlina (Don Giovanni – “Mozart's Year”, Salzburg), Serpetta (La finta giardiniera – Landestheater Salzburg in cooperation with the International Salzburg Festival).
From 2006 to 2009 Myrsini Margariti was a member of the ensemble at the Halle Opera in Germany, where she performed several roles with great success: Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Euridice (L' Orfeo), Wellgunde (Das Rheingold), Xenia (Boris Godunov), (Suor Genovieffa in (Suor Angelica), Tebaldo and Voce dal cielo (Don Carlo) a.o.


She made guest appearances at the Erfurt Theater, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Oldenburg, Theater of Fuerth, International Haendel Festspiele Halle, Opera Halle, Theater Wintertur (Swiss), Megaron Athens, International Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Embassy Festival (The Hague), Greek National Opera, Onassis Cultural Center, Theater Herodes Atticus  a.o. in roles such as Micaela (Carmen), Drusilla (L‘ incoronazione di Poppea) , Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Gianetta (L’ elisir d’ amore), Clorinda (Cenerentola), Pamina (Die Zauberfloete), Sylvia (L' isola disabitata), Coryphee (Alceste), Laodice (Hasse's Siroe), Lola (Pic Nic, greek operetta), Salome (Stradella's San Giovanni), Valencienne (Die Lustige Witwe), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Johanna (Sweeney Todd) a.o. 


As a concert singer she has performed in Greece, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Mexiko, England, Hungary, Belgium and the Netherlands.  She sang in the official opening of the Greek Presidency in Bozar, Brussels.  In August 2014 she made her debut in the BBC Proms with Armonia Atenea under George Petrou and in September 2017 in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. In January and February 2018 she sang the role of Laodice (Siroe) with the Nederlandse Reisopera, touring several opera houses in Netherlands. In November 2018 she toured Indonesia singing a full baroque program and recently she sang the role of Belezza in Handel’s “Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno” in concert, in Valetta Baroque Festival in Malta.  


Her future engagements include the role of Countess d' Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at the Greek National Opera, Alcina at the International Handel Festival in Halle, Germany and in Switzerland, Morgana (Alcina) in Greece, a Greek contemporary opera in the Theater of Epidaurus, Armida (Rinaldo) in Germany and Switzerland as well as many concerts. 


As a leading baroque soprano, she has sung several operatic roles, oratorios and cantatas by Haendel, Vivaldi, Bach, Buxtehude, Fux, Lully, Telemann, Stradella a.o., and has worked with several early music orchestras such as the New Dutch Academy, Armonia Atenea, Lautten Compagney, Haendelfestpielorchester Halle, Latinitas Nostra, New Gebew Concertino, Salzburger Hofmusik and has collaborated with conductors such as Helmuth Rilling (Bachakademie), Marcus Creed, George Petrou, Wolfgang Katschner, Markelos Chryssicos, Simon Murphy a.o.
